Hello everyone,
I thought it was about time I start doing something to help others out. The goal of this blog is to inform people on what scientific research is saying about diet, exercise, and other lifestyle topics and compare this to what popular culture is telling us. Especially when it comes to our own health, it is crucial that we understand what researchers are finding out, so that we may make informed decisions on how to live our lives in a way to maximize our health potential while minimizing harm. There may also be some interview/fun/other pieces later on… we will see!
About me: My name is Sandy Farley, and I am 26 years old.
School: I am an alumni of Oregon State University with a degree in Nutrition and a focus on Dietetics. I am back to school as a part-time student, doing some prerequisites to (hopefully) gain entrance into PA (physician assistant) school.
Work: I am a credentialed DTR (dietetic technician registered). I’m currently working full time at a skilled nursing facility where I am the “Nutrition Care Coordinator.” Basically, I perform comprehensive clinical nutritional assessments on the residents, calculate needs, intake, and make recommendations or referrals to optimize their nutritional health.
Personal: I’m a born and raised Oregonian. My house is full of animals, 2 dogs, 2 cats, 2 goldfish, and 1 husband (sorry, love you!)
